The Novatianist schism

Whether those who denied the faith under Decius could be received back. Novatian said no and was made a rival bishop of Rome for saying it.
How it ended. The church received them, and legislated the penance in twenty-five canons at Ancyra in 314. Nicaea receives Novatianists themselves by laying on of hands rather than by baptism.
