The Spirit is a creature

Doctrine · On the Spirit · c. 360–381

The Holy Spirit is a creature and a minister, not of the same rank as the Father and the Son.

The proposition attributed to Macedonius of Constantinople and set aside by canon 1 of 381. Whether Macedonius himself held it is a separate question the sources do not settle.

Refused it

  • 381 — The First Council of Constantinople (Condemns). Sets aside the party that fought the Spirit. The Seven Ecumenical Councils (NPNF series 2 vol. 14) · Constantinople I (381), canon 1

In the disputes
