The oldest dated document of Latin Christianity: the trial minutes of twelve believers of Scilli before the proconsul Vigellius Saturninus at Carthage, 17 July 180. Speratus answers for the twelve — 'I do not recognize the empire of this world' — and they are beheaded, refusing even thirty days to reconsider. Africa's church steps into history as a court transcript.
