First Epistle of Clement

The oldest Christian document outside the New Testament: Rome's church — through Clement, third in its succession here — pleads with Corinth to restore its deposed presbyters. Its argument IS this dataset's subject: the apostles appointed successors 'that when these should fall asleep, other approved men should succeed to their ministry.'
