Profession of king Reccared and the anathemas

A Visigothic king announcing his kingdom's conversion from Arianism to the Nicene faith, with anathemas attached in case anyone had missed the point. The council also ordered the creed recited at every communion — the first time that recitation became a fixed part of the western liturgy. The Spanish text of it carried the filioque, and that is how the addition entered the West's liturgical life rather than its theology. 23 anathemas in all.
