Decision of king Oswiu

A Northumbrian king deciding which Easter his kingdom would keep, and with it whether its church looked to Iona or to Rome. Bede stages it as a debate between Colman and Wilfrid over the computus and the tonsure, and gives Oswiu a closing line about not quarrelling with the man who holds the keys. What was actually settled was jurisdiction, and the Irish party went home. The Roman Easter and tonsure were adopted in Northumbria. Bede, HE 3.25, preserves the debate.
