In the same year as the great council at Constantinople, a small gathering at Aquileia — steered entirely by Ambrose of Milan — tried and deposed Palladius and Secundianus, the last bishops of the West still holding the Arian line. The transcript survives; it reads less like a debate than a cross-examination.

The Council of Aquileia in 381 AD was a church synod which was part of the struggle between Arian and orthodox ideas in Christianity. It was one of five councils of Aquileia.

Were Palladius of Ratiaria and Secundianus of Singidunum Arians? Ambrose had convened the court and meant to prove it.
