The Western passionaries send Jude and Simon east together, into Persia, and kill them there. Nothing early attests any of it — no Eusebius, no Jerome, no Syriac notice — and the accounts disagree about where and how. What is genuinely old is the pairing itself: the two names travel together in the Roman calendar on 28 October, and the joint feast is older than any surviving story of what they did. So the pairing is the fact and the journey is the legend, marked as one.
