She had stayed at the tomb weeping after Peter and John went home. Turning, she saw a man she took for the gardener and asked him where the body had been put — and he said her name, and she knew him. 'Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father.' She went and told the disciples, and that errand is why the East calls her equal-to-the-apostles and the medieval West called her the apostle to the apostles.
