The voyage is told in the first person plural and in more nautical detail than anything else in ancient literature outside a sailing manual — the soundings, the undergirding of the hull, the fourteenth night, the beach at Malta. Then Rome, and two whole years in his own hired lodging, receiving all who came, preaching without hindrance. Acts stops there. It does not say what the trial decided or that he died, which is the strongest argument that it was written before either was known.
