The fifth-century Acts of Timothy have him meet a procession of the Katagogia — a festival of Artemis in which the crowd went masked and carrying clubs — and preach against it in the street, and be beaten for it, dying two days later. Nothing early attests it, and it is marked traditional. The detail that argues faintly for it is the festival: Ephesus and Artemis are exactly the collision Acts 19 already describes, when the silversmiths rioted for the same goddess against the same mission thirty years earlier. His relics were carried to Constantinople under Constantius and laid in the Church of the Holy Apostles with Andrew's and Luke's.
