Silas the Apostle

Paul chose him in Barnabas' place and he is beaten and gaoled at Philippi for it. Rome keeps him on 13 July. Byzantium keeps him on 30 July, and not alone — with Silvanus, Crescens, Epaenetus and Andronicus, all counted among the Seventy, which is the Eastern habit of remembering the second rank of the apostolate in groups rather than singly.
