The letter and Easter tables of 525 in which the Christian era was invented. Dionysius refused to go on numbering the years by Diocletian the persecutor — 'we do not wish to bind to our circles the memory of this impious man' — and counted from the incarnation instead, beginning at 1, with no zero and, as it turned out, a few years late.
