The standard fasti of the Latin West: every see in communion with Rome, its bishops in order with a year for most of them, from the beginning to 1873, printed as a table rather than a narrative. ⚠ REGISTERED AND CURRENTLY CITED BY NOTHING, DELIBERATELY. He was registered for ORDINALS - an ordinal is not derivable from dates, and measured across all 691 adjacency pairs in this dataset not one cited source also supplied the ordering, so a published episcopal list is the only honest way to number a line - and the first line he numbered, Lyon, was renumbered from Duchesne within the day and every Gams locator on it removed. The row stays because he is the only fasti this project holds for the Latin West outside Gaul: Carthage (7 holders, none numbered), and the sees Turner and Mansi will bring in with the African subscription lists, are what he is kept for. Read him as REGISTERED FOR LINES NOT YET NUMBERED, AND SUPERSEDED BY DUCHESNE FOR GAUL. ⚠ HE PRINTS A NUMBER ONLY AT EVERY TENTH BISHOP, in the form 20. Patiens; the ones between are counted from the nearest printed decade marker, so a citation names the page AND the anchor it was counted from, never the page alone. Expect gaps: he numbers the whole line and this dataset holds a subset, so Patiens is his 20th and not our 3rd. ⚠ NOT FOR GAUL AT ALL WHERE DUCHESNE REACHES, AND NEVER BEFORE c. 400. Duchesne Fastes episcopaux (1894-1915) was written to correct Gams there and did; his early Gallic entries repeat local diocesan claims uncritically. ⚠ AND HE PRINTS NO EVIDENCE - a bare year, no witness, no argument - so nothing taken from here rises above traditional, ever. ⚠ HIS OWN COUNT IS NOT PERFECTLY CONSISTENT: in the Lyon list one italic set-aside line (Eucherius II. expungend. esse videtur) has to occupy a slot for his printed 30 to land on Aetherius, while three parenthesised entries lower down plainly do not. A count that needs a reading to close is a count that cannot carry a succession edge, which is what the Lyon renumbering proved and what a future line numbered from him must be checked against. Nothing for the East by construction: Armenia in his index is the Byzantine provinces Armenia I and II taken out of Le Quien, and Armeni uniti is the Armenian Catholic patriarchate from c. 1740 - the Catholicos of All Armenians is not in him, so this project armenia line gains nothing from this row. The archive.org scan seriesepiscoporu00gamsuoft is the Graz photographic reprint and its own metadata says so - Photographic reproduction of the main work and two separate supplements which were published in 1873, 1879 and 1886 respectively - which is why the item date field reads 1857 and is wrong; the WORK is 1873.
