Thirty lives of Syrian ascetics by a bishop who had grown up among them and had seen several of them himself. Chapter 26 is Simeon Stylites, written while Simeon was still standing on the pillar — the rarest thing a hagiography can be, a contemporary eyewitness notice. Not in the NPNF volume this project holds, which prints the Ecclesiastical History, the Dialogues and the letters and only references the Philotheus in its notes: cited here, never quoted.
