A correspondence between Christ and Abgar the Black, king of Edessa, in which the king asks for healing and is promised a disciple after the ascension. Eusebius says he translated it from the Syriac archives at Edessa; the church of the East treasured it and the Latin West judged it apocryphal. Kept here and marked, because the letters are a fact of the Edessene tradition whatever their authorship.
