The great Latin hymn of praise sung at the end of matins and at every coronation and thanksgiving since. Tradition has Ambrose and Augustine improvising it antiphonally at Augustine's baptism, which is why both names sit on it here; modern scholarship credits Niceta of Remesiana. The attribution is marked, not removed — it is a fact of the tradition.
