Synodikon of Orthodoxy

The proclamation read when the icons went back up in 843, and read again in Orthodox churches on the first Sunday of Lent every year since. It is a liturgical text that names names — eternal memory to the defenders of the images, anathema to their opponents — and the list has kept growing for a thousand years. That makes it a record not only of what Orthodoxy confesses but of what it has decided it is not.
