Finding in the Temple

gospel · 7 · Jerusalem

At twelve he stayed behind in Jerusalem after the Passover, and after three days his parents found him in the Temple among the teachers, listening and asking questions. 'Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?' Then he went down with them to Nazareth and was obedient to them — and the gospels say nothing more until the Jordan.

The Finding in the Temple — also called Christ among the Doctors, the Disputation in the Temple, or variations of those names — is an episode in the early life of Jesus as depicted in the Gospel of Luke. It is the only event of the later childhood of Jesus mentioned in a canonical gospel.

The only glimpse between the manger and the Jordan.
