The Syriac Orthodox church's account of its own succession, Syriac with a facing LATIN translation - read under the project's translation policy, facts taken and the prose here ours. Its structure is the reason to cite it: section I numbers the patriarchs of Antioch 1-118 in ONE Petrine series and does not restart at the schism, and the editors' footnote at col. 213 says so outright - from Sergius of Tella (no. 46, c. 542) Bar Hebraeus omits the Chalcedonian patriarchs and follows the miaphysite line. That is direct support for this project's antioch to antioch-syriac fork. Section II (tomus III) numbers the maphrians of the East 23-70, continuing the count from the primates of Seleucia rather than beginning again. ⚠ LATE AND PARTISAN: written c. 1280, six centuries after the era this dataset covers, compiling Dionysius of Tel Mahre and Michael the Syrian; a compiler, not a witness, and nothing from it grades above traditional for the early centuries. Cite the column; treat the ordinal as the editors' apparatus.
