Greek (Melkite) Patriarch of Alexandria · 537 (Paul of Tabennisi — the Chalcedonian line after the 536 split)

The Chalcedonian (Melkite) succession of Alexandria, sustained after 536 in communion with Constantinople and often under imperial protection, while the Coptic majority held the countryside. Its patriarchs kept the Greek liturgy and the old numbering from Mark.

Continues today as the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa.
