The consecration list of the English episcopate: who was consecrated when, by whom, and to what see, from Augustine of Canterbury onward. Registered as the PUBLIC-DOMAIN replacement for PASE, whose terms forbid the reuse this project needs (see pase). It is the source for dating canterbury (34 holders, none dated) and york (23, none dated). Public domain by imprint date, second edition Oxford 1897, confirmed 12 Aug 2026. A 19th-century compilation from charters and annals: careful, cited, and still a reconstruction where the early records are thin. READ AND USED: the OCR is in bronze (npm run fetch:archive-texts) and 52 of those 57 tenures now carry Stubbs' years, entry by entry. The five it cannot date are the point of a CONSECRATION list — Wighard died at Rome before he could be consecrated, Byrhthelm was set aside before the pallium, and neither leaves a consecration to record; Edwald of York is simply absent from it; and Wulfsige of York and Hrotheweard are there with no firm year (After 808, d. before 837; the heading 904-928). ⚠ HE RECKONS THREE CANTERBURY DEATHS A YEAR LATE against the years Wikidata carries — Nothhelm, Æthelred and Wulfhelm — and qa counts that rather than picking a winner.
